Meet the Republic of Vordenmeer — a North Atlantic island nation that has never existed, not even once.

We gave an AI the task of building a complete country from scratch. It did not hold back.

Slide 1 — The Flag Horizontal tricolor: deep teal, cream, and burnt sienna. Compass rose at the center. National motto on a ribbon banner: "Ubi Ventus, Ibi Nos" — Where the Wind, There We Are.

Founded: March 4, 1612. (Fictional founding date, obviously. But it feels right.)

Slide 2 — The Map Vordenmeer is a crescent-shaped archipelago — main island Groot Vor, flanked by Little Fen and the Islet of Skadur. The Grijs Peaks dominate the northwest. Capital city: Vordstad, population 84,000, sitting at the mouth of the Meervliet River.

Somewhere between Iceland and a fever dream.

Slide 3 — Fast Facts

Currency: The Grøt (₲)
Language: Vordisch (a Low German creole)
National animal: The Greywing Petrel
National dish: Rookvis Stew
Total population: 312,000

The Grøt has never been exchanged for anything. It is purely theoretical money.

Slide 4 — Culture Three pillars of Vordenmeer life:

🪔 The Stormfast Festival — coastal lantern-lighting every October, held specifically during bad weather. This is considered normal.

🍲 Rookvis Stew — smoked fish, root vegetables, herbs. The national dish by unanimous vote in 1887. There was no other option on the ballot.

🏐 Fjordball — a handball variant played on sloped stone courtyards. Rules are contested. Violence is technically legal within three specific zones.

Slide 5 — History On March 4, 1612, seven fishing clans of Groot Vor signed the Compact of Vordstad, ending four decades of dispute over North Atlantic herring trade routes.

Chancellor Hendrika Vors announced independence mid-storm. The declaration was reportedly soaked through before it could be properly signed. It still counts.

Slide 6 — A Note None of this is real.

Vordenmeer does not exist. The Grøt is not a currency. Hendrika Vors never stood in a storm holding a soggy founding charter.
